Staff Nurse Practitioner

Hi, I’m Monica Johnson (though some may know me as Monica Maloney). It is truly an honor to serve patients and support them in their mental health journey. As a board-certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, I’ve made a commitment to treat every patient with respect, genuine compassion, and individualized care. My approach goes beyond simply prescribing medications—I focus on creating a holistic, personalized treatment plan that addresses the full spectrum of a patient’s well-being. Mental health care is not just about managing symptoms with medications. I understand that mental health challenges are often influenced by life situations, decision-making, and unexpected stressors. Because of this, I work with patients to explore not only their symptoms but also the external factors that may impact their well-being. This means teaching and encouraging healthy habits, such as intentional movement, balanced nutrition, effective time management, boundary setting, mindfulness, and spiritual alignment.

My practice includes thorough evaluations and personalized follow-up care:

  • Initial Evaluation: 60 minutes, including active listening, focused questions, and a comprehensive assessment.
  • Follow-Up Appointments: Typically, 30 minutes, but may vary between 15 to 30 minutes depending on the patient’s needs.

I treat individuals ages 16 to 65, addressing a wide range of mental health conditions, including:

  • Anxiety Disorders
  • PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder)
  • ADHD (Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder)
  • Depression
  • Bipolar Disorder
  • Insomnia
  • Behavioral Conditions

When I’m not working, I love spending time with family and friends, working out, dancing, reading the word, and attending church. I’m passionate about lifelong learning, volunteering, exploring new foods, and traveling. Most importantly, I am an advocate for total wellness—mental, physical, and spiritual—because I believe these are our greatest assets.
